It is 15 metres high & 110 metres long. We have seen other wave like rock formations but nothing like this. I always thought the erosion was caused by wind but apparently it's actually caused by water.
We climbed to the top (nothing after Frenchmans Peak). The local farmers & residents of Hyden actually catch the water than runs off the rock as the town water supply.
This is Hippos Yawn. It is believed that salt erosion from inside the Boulder causes these formations.
Much to the excitement of the kids we found a loop walk (3.6kms) in length. Why not! It'll be a long time before we are back here.
There is even a resort & small regional airport. I'm not sure what their busy season is, but, I didn't see much activity at the resort. I did notice an office attached to the airport. It was a Royal Flying Doctor patient transfer office.
Michael doesn't like driving the same road twice. Needless to say, we often get lost. He found an alternate route home. "it's only an extra 20kms". Famous last words. It was at least an extra 100kms. I swear we drove 100kms without turning the steering wheel. Amazingly beautiful country with a lot of grain grown. 100s & 100s of acres. We saw a train go by & I googled the company name. I found that it's 100% owned by Western Australian farmers. Well done! That's a rarity these days.
This display of fabulous artworks was built using a government grant. It's made from bits & pieces of metal & old machinery. Michael was very impressed, as you can imagine.
Our girls can make a fairy garden wherever they go. They are becoming great mates. They still fight, don't get me wrong.
Lake King. It has a road that runs through the middle. I'm not sure when it was last full but I don't think it happens all that often.
