Richmond Kronsaurus

Today we set off in search of dinosaurs. Michael & I saw a show on the dinosaur trail years ago & swore that one day we'd do it. We just didn't realise that we'd do it with four kids & mum & dad :-)

An early morning shuffle around Julia Creek. It's very hard to find an hour worth of running in a town with half a dozen streets. Lucky the RV park was a little way out of town (lol)
How fabous. You know how much I love my windmills!
Father's Day breakfast. Unfortunately, Michael had to cook the bacon whilst I did poached eggs, mushrooms, toast & beans inside.
We visited the Julia Creek information centre & saw the feeding of this little guy...the Dunnart. Only about the size of a mouse but actually very aggressive. We watched him fed. They only eat live insects. They have previously been on the endangered list but a sanctuary has been set up to re-populate.
I'd love this as an outdoor setting.
This is some seriously dry country...
Next stop is Richmond. It's about 160km from Julia creek and is our first stop on our dinosaur trail. We purchased our 4 parkfamily pass & stated that we also had an extra 2 children. We've found that a family pass means 2A + 2C and we then pay for an extra 2. Not on the dinosaur trail. $130 for 2A and up to 4 children. What a bargain!
This exhibit is mainly the sea dinosaur fossils. There is one sea dinosaur that was two times the size of a T-Rex...scary!
Check out this...Kronosaurus. This was found by two cattle farmers near Richmond. They saw what they thought was a tree root sticking out of the creek wall in their property. They gave it a kick & broke off the beak. After some further digging they realised that they had unearthed something huge. They called the museum of Queensland & the rest is history.
This was a surprise. A water park & lake at a very small country town. They really do have fabulous facilities. They encourage tourism too. We are staying at a freecamp in town. Close to shops. I might have to try the country butchery in the morning :-)
Who needs paper! You can practice name writing with a stick in the dirt, can't you Charlotte!!!
