Mt Isa

Welcome back to Queensland. After our windy roadside stop I thought we were going to get blown into Queensland.
It's just so dry. You can see why the farmers are doing it so tough.

We arrived yesterday & immediately I had washing in the machine. I do miss having a washing machine. I really take it for granted. I really should have kept a tally of $$$ spent on laundry. Hand washing just does not cut it.

So...a mining town. Zinc, copper, lead, silver. I googled Mt Isa and the first thing that popped up was that WHO in 2008 found that 10% of children living here had lead levels in their bloodstream above safe recommended levels. The adds on TV also show why children should always wash their hands & fruit (to remove lead residue). Our new home....probably not!

Lovely van park. Lovely owners moved from Tassie 6 years ago. They wanted a change & I think they got it.
Nan & I snuck out for a spot of groceries & a sneaky coffee solo (no children).
The kids chose a lovely tiara for nanny! A glass of bubbles because we've been so good & not drinking at all.
An afternoon swim but it was too cold for me. No school today because we finished early this fortnight.
A beach theme cake was requested by the birthday girl & I think the kids nailed it.
