Mt Gambier

It's dippy egg Saturday after an early morning boxing session! At least we earlt it.

Tutus for brekky???

An awesome bike ride to the Umpherston sinkhole. Wow....so beautiful. A garden has been established. I could imagine a wedding there.

A stop at the Lady Nelson Discovery Centre.

After lunch we headed to the shops so Keira could spend her birthday money from Nanny Duck. Thank you nanny! I chose a pet butterfly :-)

We are staying at the Showground. The harness racing gold cup is on tonight so we're off to the races (as long as the rain holds off).

Naracoorte to Mt Gambier

We headed for Naracoorte Caves. It was fabulous to find an attraction that offers such a great deal for larger families. We ended up doing two caves because the kids were so interested. We also visited the fossil exhibition. The kids completed a worksheet so it's now called a "school excursion". We are staying at Mt Gambier  Showground. Showers are dirty but it's a good base to look around. $25 per night for an unpowered sight.

One very excited 6 year old will not get much sleep. I've booked her in to get her ears pierced. Excited much???

Keira's plasticine creation 😃

Happy Birthday Keira

My beautiful girl Keira turned 7 today. Nanny, Keira & I headed out to our beauty appointment for Keira's first treat...ear piercing.

She got a fairy house & accessories for her birthday & cooked Nutella pancakes for brekky.

Keira started getting nervous when we arrived for our appointment but was very brave & hardly cried at all.

I found a fairytale village about 25kms out of town. We packed a picnic lunch & headed off for our next surprise. We arrived in the carpark to a sign that said "open by appointment only". Really....NO! Just as I was about to break the sad news a lovely lady opened the window.?i told her we were visiting from interstate & she agreed to let us in...VIP's.

On the way home we went to check out the famous blue lake. Volcanic activity has left an amazing blue tint to the water....truly stunning!!!

A day finished with Keira's choice of dinner...lamb chops & fried eggs ....REALLY!

She actually ate another chop after this...then cake & sparklers :-))))

AN AWESOME DAY :-)))

Narrung to Naracorte

Met a lovely couple yesterday who have sold everything to travel for 2 years....and you all thought we were mad lol

Left Narrung for a lovely drive through Coorong National Park. Salt bush scrub all along the coastline. So much of SA is uninhabitable.

We found a beach called "the Granites". Random rocks on a lovely beach...4WD access too.

Found Kingston where we had lunch....not lobster at $54 a half lobster cold. Just sandwiches on a gypsy budget.

The big lobster....Kingston!!!

Robe...could spend more time there...so pretty. Lots of quirky shops & cafes.

We saw an Echidna....it was huge & on a random dirt road...thanks to dads Garmin...James!!!!

Narrung

A lazy day in the WIND. Omg went for a bike ride...head wind both ways. A few of the kids walked. A big school day & a Skype call with their teachers.

A swim when we arrived yesterday.

Sunset over Lake Alexandrina.

Schools in... Too windy outside 😜

Ferry crossing on bikes

Michael's office today...anything to escape the wind.

We went for a swim only to be told by the fishermen that he saw a brown snake swimming where we had just been ....ouch!!!!

Christie's Beach

Our last day at the beach for a little while. It's a tough gig.

We made a kick ass seaweed sandcastle.

Hanhdorf

Left Christie's Beach for a day tour to a German style town about an hours drive. Beautiful old buildings, beautifully restored. The boys went for a meaty lunch while us girls went for coffee.

Afternoon swim...ahhhh!!! I love the coast :-)

Adelaide

Sightseeing in a very beautiful city. I'm not a city person but riding along the river...it's all so green & full of nature. We even saw turtles 😃

There was a downside. I got lost, finally found everyone....set off for our bike ride...PEDAL BROKE! Are you SERIOUS. I really needed that coffee at the end lol

The turtles are the things that look like rocks.

Burra to Mannan

We are camped on the banks of the Murray River...$10 per night. Free swimming hole (lol) & toilets. A day filled with ferry crossings, which the kids thought were fab. I'm glad Michael drove today. Those ferries are quite squishy!

Gypsy life

So...daddy off to work today. Into school by 8am...swimming at the beach by 11am. It's not the same with dad at work  but still loads of fun!

Cooking up a storm!

Aunty Sarah managed a hair day! Thanks sis xxx

Early morning beach shot! I snuck out before daddy heads to work for 5minutes of alone time 😃

Christie's Beach

So...we decide to book our big adventure to Tasmania. Troopy is booked in to do a minor repair early this morning. Michael comes back with quote for $1800 for other things that need fixing. Also, there is a whistling sound from your turbo. There is a possibility it will need replacing....a further $3700. I can guarantee if we had that news yesterday, Tassie wouldn't be part of our travel plans.

Anyway, we'll get it back tomorrow & take it to Toyota for a 2nd opinion. Fingers crossed...

Our front door :-))))

Murray river

I was swimming today & thinking "Gee, this river provides a lot to these communities". Did you know that the Murray River is 2508km long. Are you kidding? That is crazy. It provides entertainment & a life force for these communities.

A bike ride including a ferry crossing...and a relaxing day swimming. A quick wash of the car & caravan & ready to head off again tomorrow!

Burra

We've returned to Burra because of the car trouble we had. We stayed in Burra but it was very rushed. It's a town built on copper mining in the 1800s. Definately worth a look. You can buy a key from the visitors centre which allows access to a lot of historic buildings.....incredible! We rode around this morning for around 2hours....back to campsite for lunch & school...then a drive to finish the tour!

Catholic Church

Unicorn brewery

Captains cottage
Copper mine

Sightseeing

We left Melrose today. A beautiful drive through the Clare Valley before we reach Burra.

Our first stop was a beautiful country town called Laura (I thought of you Laura Godyn) for a cuppa. Michael catching up on emails in his mobile office.

Onto Gladstone where we visited the goal. It was used until 1975.

Isaac got early release!

I told them to behave 😃

Now for some schoolwork before a late afternoon dip at the pool!!!!

Tenae's favourite subject....MATHS!!!!
